The play ‘Red Rose and White Rose’ is adapted from the Republic of China Shanghai romance novel written by Chinese female writer Zhang Ailing. The play tells the story of the hero Tong Zhenbao, who returns from overseas studies, and his love and marriage experiences with the open-minded woman ‘Red Rose’ Jiao Rui and the traditional woman ‘White Rose’ Yan Li, showing the contradictions in the inner self and choices of the characters under the era.
